Rush in the game for Olympic flick

Geoffrey Rush is joining Eric Bana and Daniel Craig in the cast of Steven Spielberg’s untitled Munich Olympics project, which begins shooting in Europe this July. The Munich pic, a DreamWorks and Universal co-production, is set to bow Dec. 23. Scripted by Tony Kushner, the film follows the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics, where members of the Israeli team were held hostage and slain by Palestinian extremists. The nature of Rush’s role is being held close to the vest. Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Barry Mendel and Colin Wilson are producing. The Munich project will mark another quick turnaround for Spielberg, who just wrapped DreamWorks and Paramount’s “The War of the Worlds,” which was produced in just 10 months.
