‘Grimm’ start for Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein hit the ground running in Cannes on Tuesday, hatching a plan to unveil 20 minutes of footage Friday from helmer Terry Gilliam’s bigscreen fable “The Brothers Grimm.” To push the movie, Gilliam will wing to the Riviera to show off scenes he assembled with Weinstein’s input. The pair were said to be flying high on the idea of finally offering a sneak peak at the long-gestating, roughly $80 million film, which had been on the Dimension slate and will now be distributed by the Weinstein Co. Disney also has a piece of the action on the film, which co-stars Matt Damon and Heath Ledger as con men who encounter a fairy-tale curse. Another development came as Viggo Mortensen, Diane Lane, Mickey Rourke and Justin Timberlake are rumored as the main cast for John Madden’s bigscreen adaptation of screenwriter Elmore Leonard’s “Killshot.” The thriller follows a woman and her blue-collar husband who become targets for killers after stumbling upon an extortion plot hatched by the baddies.
