De Niro, Streep eyeing ‘First Man’

Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep are circling “First Man,” a Disney film that would mark the actors’ fourth onscreen collaboration. The film was scripted by Diane English, who mined D.C. politics for laughter with “Murphy Brown” and will make her feature directing debut on the movie, being eyed for a 2006 production start. De Niro would play a Ted Turner-like mogul who puts his career on hold to run a presidential campaign for his wife. When she becomes the first woman to occupy the White House, he’s suddenly faced with a significant role reversal.
