‘Chappelle’s’ DVD bows big

As the third season of “Chappelle’s Show” remains in limbo, fans are getting their fix by purchasing a record number of DVDs of the show’s second season. Comedy Central and sister distributor Paramount Home Video reported record TV DVD first-day sales (500,000 units) and first-week sales (1.2 million) of “Chappelle’s Show: Season 2 Uncensored” since its release May 24, surpassing the records held by last year’s first-season set. That collection remains the top-selling TV DVD title in terms of unit sales, with nearly 3 million copies purchased. It’s ahead of sets of “Seinfeld” and “The Simpsons,” though those two have generated more revenue since their discs are priced much higher than those of “Chappelle’s Show.”
