Strouse bows tuner at Trinity Rep

Previews begin April 15 at Trinity Rep's Chace Theater

Trinity Rep hosts the world premiere of a new musical by Charles Strouse (“Annie”), “You Never Know.” Trinity Rep acting artistic director Amanda Dehnert helms, with Christopher D’Amboise handling choreography.

Tony and Grammy winner Strouse also composed “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Applause.”

“You Never Know” follows a young man who unearths a musical that his grandfather wrote but left unfinished; he decides to bring the show to life. The action then moves to that tuner’s setting, a swanky Miami resort in 1948, and its colorful cast of characters, including a womanizing politician and his movie star wife.

Starring are Havilland Stillwell (Broadway’s “Fiddler on the Roof” revival) and Gerritt Vandermeer (“The Music Man” national tour). Also appearing are Julio Monge, Darryl Semira, Jay Montgomery, Fred Sullivan Jr., Rachael Warren, Mauro Hantman, Stephen Thorn and Ben Steinfeld.

Creative team includes David Jenkins (sets), William Lane (costumes), John Ambrosone (lighting), Peter Hurowitz (sound design), Charles Alterman (musical director) and Dan Delange (orchestrations).

Previews begin April 15 at Trinity Rep’s Chace Theater, with opening night set for April 21.
