'Blonde' hits the stage this summer
Suzanne Somers will bring her autobiographical solo show “The Blonde in the Thunderbird” to Broadway this summer.She plays the Brooks Atkinson from July 8-Sept. 3, with a pre-Broadway run at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theater from June 16-26. The Brooks Atkinson will have run the legit gamut by year’s end. Theater is now home to Michael Frayn’s drama “Democracy,” about West Germany chancellor Willy Brandt, which closes Sunday. The Somers show is an interim booking before Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick take up residence at the Brooks Atkinson in October, in a revival of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple.” “The Blonde in the Thunderbird,” written by Mitzie and Ken Welch, had its world premiere at San Diego’s Spreckles Theater in 2004.
