Pryce right for ‘Rotten’

Thesp takes over for Lithgow on Jan. 17

Jonathan Pryce takes over for John Lithgow in the Broadway tuner “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” on Jan. 17.

Brit thesp Pryce, long rumored to be in talks for the role, last appeared on Broadway in “Miss Saigon,” which won him a Tony in 1991. He also scored a Tony for the 1977 Broadway production of “Comedians.”

He’ll appear alongside original “Scoundrels” star Norbert Leo Butz, just signed to appear in the show through July. The original female lead, Sherie Rene Scott, will leave the show in early spring to appear in “Landscape of the Body” at the Signature but may return when that production ends its run in May.
