Ticket demand adds extra week for Andrews play
HOLLYWOOD — Goodspeed Musicals has asked “The Boy Friend” on another date — several, actually.
Due to increased demand, Goodspeed’s executive director, Michael P. Price, has announced that seven perfs have been added to musical’s sked. Originally set to run from July 8-Sept. 18, “Friend” will now run through Sept. 24.
“Demand for tickets is so strong, we had to add another week,” Price said.
Tuner, with book, music and lyrics by Sandy Wilson, is helmed by Julie Andrews, who starred in the show’s 1954 Broadway debut. Story takes place on the 1920s-era French Riviera and centers on an English heiress who falls in love with a delivery boy.
Cast includes Bethe Austin, Paul Carlin, Andrea Chamberlain and Drew Rick Faugno.
Goodspeed will also produce the national tour of “The Boy Friend” this fall, beginning in Wilmington, Del.
