The Naked Angels Theater Company has tapped Jenny Gersten as its new artistic director.
Her predecessor, Tim Ransom has left to resume his acting career and pursue commercial producing projects.
Gersten has been the associate producer of the Williamstown Theater Festival for nine years. She was considered a favorite for Williamstown’s artistic director job, which instead went to actor-director Roger Rees in November.
Gersten, daughter of Lincoln Center Theater exec producer Bernard Gersten, will begin by planning Naked Angels’ 20th anniversary season, which begins this fall.
The collaborative company’s 49 members include thesps Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Marisa Tomei, helmer Joe Mantello and scribes Kenneth Lonergan, Warren Leight and Jon Robin Baitz. Its credits include Stephen Belber’s play “Tape” and Emily Mann’s play “Meshugah.”
