Dawson off to ‘Verona’

Screen siren sets the stage for Bard tuner

Rosario Dawson will play Julia in the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park revival of “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” the musical adaptation of the Bard’s play of the same name.

Dawson has previously lent her vocals to “Josie and the Pussycats” and the upcoming film version of “Rent.”

Tuner will also feature legit thesp Norm Lewis (Valentine), David Costabile (Launce), Oscar Isaac (Proteus), Paolo Montalban (Eglamour) and Megan Lawrence (Lucetta).

Kathleen Marshall directs and choreographs the tuner, which has a book by John Guare and Mel Shapiro, lyrics by Guare and music by Galt MacDermot. Performances run Aug. 16-Sept. 11.

In other legit news, “In My Life,” the new musical written and directed by “You Light Up My Life” composer Joseph Brooks, has announced start dates for Broadway’s Music Box Theater. Previews begin Sept. 27, and opening night is Oct. 20.
