Richard Chamberlain will headline the national tour of “On Golden Pond.”
Producer Jeffrey Finn put the launch date as September 2006 but has announced no cities.
The Finn-led production of Ernest Thompson’s play recently performed on Broadway after a stint at D.C.’s Kennedy Center. Opening April 7 in Gotham, “Pond” had a truncated run due to the illness of star James Earl Jones and closed June 26.
Leonard Foglia directed the Broadway production and is aboard to repeat those duties for the tour.
From the 2004-05 season, the plays “Steel Magnolias” and “Doubt” also have announced national tours but no dates or casting.
Chamberlain last toured in “Scrooge,” a retelling of the “Christmas Carol,” in fall 2004.
