‘Apprentice’ aims at B’way

Weisslers, Trump, Burnett to produce

Legit vets Barry and Fran Weissler will develop and produce the planned stage musical version of “The Apprentice,” which is aiming for spring 2006 Broadway opening.

Donald Trump and Mark Burnett, the producers of the reality series, will also be producers on the tuner.

Burnett had previously mentioned the idea for the tuner, but Trump first announced the Weisslers’ involvement during the final episode of “The Apprentice 3” on May 19.

“I had a vision for a dramatic story within ‘The Apprentice’ that I knew would work on a Broadway stage,” said Burnett in a statement. “This is not a spoof or a satire; it is a love story set to ‘The Apprentice’ as a backdrop.”
