CTG merges PR ops

Hereford to oversee publicity in Theater Group merger

The press departments of the Center Theater Group are being merged, with Nancy Hereford named to oversee publicity for the Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theater and the Kirk Douglas Theater.

Tony Sherwood, who headed the Ahmanson department and has been with CTG for more than 20 years, has ankled. Publicity was the only department within Center Theater Group that was theater specific.

Changes take place July 1, the first day of CTG’s new fiscal year.

The day before, CTG will be eliminating its four play development units: the Asian Theater Lab, the Blacksmyths Theater Lab, Latino Theater Initiative and Other Voices.

Diane Rodriguez, who led the Latino operation, will become an associate producer responsible for identifying smaller productions in L.A. and around the country that CTG can present. Other play development staff members will be ankling at the end of the month.
