B'way vet Channing to be honored at event
The Actors’ Fund of America will laud Stockard Channing with the Julie Harris Award for Lifetime Achievement at its eighth annual Tony Awards party June 5 at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles.
Broadway veteran Channing (“The Lion in Winter,” “Six Degrees of Separation”) won a Tony for her perf in 1985’s “Joe Egg.” She’s also known for her TV and film turns, including her current stint on NBC’s “The West Wing.” Channing was nominated for an Oscar for re-creating her Broadway role in “Six Degrees.”
Previous Julie Harris Award recipients include Gwen Verdon, Charles Durning, Rita Moreno, James Earl Jones and Lauren Bacall.
Party, co-hosted by Daily Variety, will benefit the Actors’ Fund of America.
