WB drafts ‘Kill’ scribe

Project will be based on Bachrach article

Warner Bros. has tapped Fernley Phillips to pen adaptation “You Want Me to Kill Him?,” set up with Bryan Singer producing.

Project’s based on Judy Bachrach’s article “U Want Me 2 Kill Him?,” published in the February edition of Vanity Fair. True-life tale chronicles a strange Internet relationship between a 14-year-old loner and a 16-year-old in which the younger boy wound up being stabbed twice and nearly killed by the older boy.

Alex Garcia is overseeing for Singer’s Bad Hat Harry banner. Singer hasn’t committed to directing. Polly Cohen is supervising the project for the studio.

Phillips is writing and co-producing New Line’s “The Number 23,” which has been greenlit with Jim Carrey starring, Joel Schumacher directing and Contrafilm’s Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson producing. Brooklyn Weaver, who manages Phillips, exec produces.

Phillips is also writing Warner’s remake of “Altered States.”
