HOLLYWOOD — Latino-targeted shingle Voy Pictures, based in Gotham and L.A., has tapped industry vet Lourdes Diaz as prexy.
Diaz replaces Emilio Diaz Barroso, who ankled to form his own film company along with Voy former head of development Darlene Caamano.
Diaz was head of development and production at Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith’s shingle, Green Moon Prods.
Most recently she was the founder and prexy of Agua Entertainment, where she developed and produced films for theatrical and television distribution as well as managed writers and directors. Company had an overhead deal with Catch 23 Entertainment.
Voy Pictures’ first co-production, Brazilian docu “Favela Rising,” had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Voy, which boarded the pic at the post stage, mainly focuses on creating inspirational, Latino-targeted English-language pics. Shingle is developing three projects.
“Favela Rising,” helmed and co-produced by Jeff Zimbalist and Matt Mochary, tracks former drug trafficker Anderson Sa and his efforts to reform a Rio slum through music and dance.
