Latino film company Voy Pictures has unveiled a competition for Latino screenwriters. Winning screenplay nabs a $5,000 cash award and an option from Voy Pictures. Move is a bid from Voy to unearth a few gems in a rather sparse market. Voy Pictures is the film division of Voy, a fledgling media company aimed at second and third generation English-speaking Latinos and Latinophiles.
Voy Pictures will fly five finalists to Los Angeles for a week-long Film Lab program during which each finalist will have one-on-one meetings with industry professionals. At the end of the Lab, finalists will be given six weeks to rework their script and resubmit the revised draft.
Grand prizewinner will be announced on July 1.
