MEXICO — The Guadalajara fest has tapped Lucy Virgen deputy director. She will manage the festival until its board of trustees meets in September to elect a general director. Former chief Kenya Marquez resigned to pursue her career as a filmmaker.

Virgen is a film critic and editor of online magazine the Thinking Eye. She is also a member of international critics org Fipresci. She has been a juror at the Toronto, Palm Springs, Berlin and Chicago fests, among others.

The 21st edition of the Guadalajara Film Festival will run March 24 to 31.
