Chancellor Carnesale will present awards June 17

Anthony Hopkins and Sundance Film Festival director Geoffrey Gilmore will receive honors June 17 at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television commencement ceremony.

Hopkins will receive the UCLA Medal, Gilmore the Alumni Achievement Award. UCLA Chancellor Albert Carnesale will present the awards.

Hopkins, who has been teaching a series of seminars for acting and directing students at the school, has appeared in nearly 100 films during a career that spans almost four decades. He received an Academy Award for “The Silence of the Lambs” and was nominated for “The Remains of the Day,” “Nixon” and “Amistad.”

Gilmore, a faculty member of the school, has been the director of the Sundance Film Festival for the past 15 years.

Writer-producer Fay Kanin will deliver the keynote address.
