Pekurovskaya upped to veep of creative ads

Universal Pictures has upped Maria Pekurovskaya, who most recently oversaw marketing materials for “The 40 Year Old Virgin,” to exec VP for creative advertising.

Pekurovskaya joined U in June 2002 as a senior VP after serving as a writer and producer for creative advertising company the Ant Firm.

While at Universal she has created audiovisual and print blurbs for pics including “Bruce Almighty,” “Love Actually,” “Dawn of the Dead,” “Along Came Polly,” “Ray” and “The Interpreter.”

Her upcoming campaigns include those for pics “Munich,” “The Break Up,” “The Black Dahlia” and “The Children of Men.”

Pekurovskaya began her career as a freelance copywriter, contributing to campaigns for pics including “Men in Black,” “As Good as It Gets” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
