German distrib files for bankruptcy
BERLIN — Film distrib Solo Film has filed for insolvency three years after its establishment.
Company was forced into bankruptcy March 16 after it was unable to pay for a title from one of its license traders, according to topper Peter Heinzemann.
Solo’s upcoming releases include Danish pic “Brothers” (March 31), Swedish horror pic “Drowning Ghost” (May 12) and Australian drama “Swimming Upstream” (May 19).
Heinzemann, formerly head of distribution at Kinowelt and an exec at German exhib Ufa for over a decade, launched Solo in 2002 with the aim of carrying a diverse slate of German-language films, specialized pics, indies and A-level studio movies.
A court-appointed insolvency administrator is to begin reviewing the company’s financial status this week.
