Veteran Italian sales agent Adriana Chiesa has been appointed topper of Italy’s film promotion body AIP-FilmItalia.
Chiesa will ankle her company, film exporter Adriana Chiesa Enterprises, to take on the post.
The recently beefed-up AIP aspires to parallel the role of France’s UniFrance but has yet to develop the means to effectively help Italian cinema travel.
Chiesa replaces Carlo Bassi, who stepped down after the shuttering of Milan’s Mifed film market, of which he was chief executive.
Chiesa, who has extensive experience getting Italian pics in theaters all over the world, is VP of the European Union of Film Exporters and a board member of the European Film Academy.
