Helmer Alex Proyas (“I, Robot”) is directing supernatural thriller “Knowing” for Escape Artists.
Story concerns a man who opens a time capsule that contains some terrifying predictions — some have already happened and some are about to.
“Knowing,” whose original draft was penned by novelist Ryne Pearson, was set up at Columbia a few years ago with Rod Lurie and then Richard Kelly as helmer. Film went into turnaround, and now Escape Artists is rehatching the project. No studio is attached.
Husband-and-wife team Stiles White and Juliet Snowden (“The Boogeyman”) have rewritten the script.
Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal
and Steve Tisch will produce. Exec producing is David Alper.
Proyas’ credits include directing “Garage Days” for Fox Searchlight.
Escape Artists is producing the Steve Conrad
pitch “Chad Schmidt,” with Brad Pitt attached to star for Sony (Daily Variety
, Feb. 16). Its next release is Paramount’s “The Weatherman,” with Nicolas Cage. Also upcoming is “The Pursuit of Happyness,” a Will Smith pic being produced with Overbrook Entertainment.
