‘Perfume’ gets coin

World Brief

Helmer Tom Tykwer and producer Bernd Eichinger have received a E2.6 million ($3.4 million) grant from Bavaria for their pic “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.”

This is in addition to the $2 million from film funding body FFF Bayern and $1.3 million from Bavarian bank funds BBF.

Pic is an adaptation of the 18th-century novel by Patrick Sueskind and is a longtime passion for Eichinger. Tykwer co-wrote the script with Andrew Birkin.

FFF Bayern, in this year’s first allocation session, distributed $8.7 million including $1.6 million for youth adventure pic “TKKG and the Mysterious Mind Machine” and $200,000 for John Malkovich starrer “Klimt” by Raoul Ruiz.

Teamworx’s postwar drama “Die Luftbruecke” (The Airlift) for Teuton web SAT 1, received $1.2 million from FFF.
