Par finds ‘Love’ interest in Parker

'Sideways' London attached to producer

Sarah Jessica Parker is running to “Love Walked In,” signing to co-produce and star in Paramount’s comedy-drama based on Marisa de los Santos’ upcoming first novel. Michael London (“Sideways”) will produce.

Book, set to be published by Dutton late this year, revolves around an independent 31-year-old Philadelphia café manager who becomes romantically involved with a man and forms a bond with his 11-year-old daughter; her friendship with the daughter deepens when the girl’s mother is unable to care for the child and remains after the romance concludes.

Paramount prexy Donald De Line and exec VP Alli Shearmur preemptively bought the rights to “Love Walked In” following a recent pitch meeting with Parker and London, who signed a first-look deal with Par last year. Shearmur will oversee for the studio.

Parker brought the project to London while they were working on prepping for Fox 2000’s “The Stone Family,” also starring Parker. That project, formerly called “Hating Her,” will begin shooting Feb. 28 with Thomas Bezucha directing.

It’s Parker’s first feature since “Sex and the City” ended. Thesp’s also set to star opposite Matthew McConaughey in “Failure to Launch” for Paramount and Scott Rudin.

London’s the sole producer on “Sideways,” which is up for five Oscars including picture. He’s also a producer on Bulls Eye Entertainment’s “The Illusionist.”
