Paramount and MTV Films have tapped Joy Bryant to star opposite rapper 50 Cent in the untitled action-adventure pic formerly dubbed “Locked and Loaded.”
Bryant will portray the love interest of the main character in the pic, directed by Jim Sheridan (“In America”). Shooting’s expected to start in the spring. Terence Winter, an exec producer and writer on “The Sopranos,” is scripting the tale of a drug dealer who turns away from crime to pursue his passion, rap music.
Bryant starred opposite Derek Luke in “Antwone Fisher” and appeared in “Honey,” “Haven” and “Badasssss!.” She’ll next be seen in Universal thriller “The Skeleton Key” and is now appearing in Hunter Richards’ drama “London.”
The 50 Cent project is being developed by Interscope Geffen A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine and Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg, who signed a first-look deal with Par last year.
MTV Films prexy Van Toffler, exec VP David Gale and VP Heather Parry are involved in producing capacities, with Par senior VP Wendy Japhet overseeing the project for the studio.
