'Hooligans' to be first film in release
HOLLYWOOD — Indie financing and production shingle Odd Lot Entertainment has formed a releasing arm, Odd Lot Releasing, and slated its own “Green Street Hooligans” as its first release.
Odd Lot, topped by Gigi Pritzker and Deborah Del Prete, makes films in the $5 million to $30 million range. It has 16 projects on its slate and will fill its distribution pipeline with some of those projects over the next 18-24 months.
After that it plans to look for outside films to distribute.
“Green Street Hooligans” is skedded for day-and-date release in the U.K. and U.S. on Sept. 9. Odd Lot will handle pic’s Stateside release, bowing it in New York, Chicago and L.A. UIP distribs in Blighty. Elijah Wood starrer was the first film to win both the grand jury prize and the audience award at the SXSW film fest.
Former Sony marketing topper Paula Silver’s Beyond the Box shingle, will consult on the release. Silver oversaw the marketing for “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” among other pics.
Pritzger said Odd Lot is looking to fill a void in indie distribution. “When analyzing the marketing and release plans of several companies interested in ‘Green Street Hooligans,’ we realized they were all focused on the traditional arthouse platform release,” she said. “but we knew with certainty that our film appeals to a broader audience and needed appropriate commercial marketing.”
Odd Lot Entertainment and Hyde Park Entertainment recently announced plans to produce and co-finance “Trap for Cinderella,” directed by Iain Softley.
