‘Oculto’ scares up Venevision deal

Marull, Cepeda, Sbaraglia stare in love triangle tale

Venevision has taken all U.S. rights to Spanish thriller “Oculto” (Hidden), a genre-hopping revenge thriller helmed by emerging Spanish auteur Antonio Hernandez (“The City of No Limits”).

Pic is produced by Spain’s Zebra and Iconica, Italy’s Sintra and the U.K.’s Future. It toplines Laia Marull, Angie Cepeda and Leonardo Sbaraglia in a smoke-and-mirrors love triangle tale.

In post, “Hidden” has already closed for Italy (Luce) and Benelux (Paradiso).

Deal was struck by Spanish sales consortium Latido, which was launched at Berlin 2004, by Spanish producers Zebra, Tornasol and Continental.

Latido has just taken international outside Latin America and the U.S. on Peruvian kids time travel toon pic, “Pacific Pirates,” a large hometurf hit.

At Cannes Latido has cut a slew of sales on its large Latino film slate.

Of major territory deals, Andres Wood’s “Machuca” has been sold to Australia’s Madman,” and Argentinean toon “Patoruzito” has been licensed to Germany’s Dexx for DVD/theatrical and RRS for TV.

Latido’s Cannes sleeper looks set to be Juan Carlos Cremata’s DV-shot “Viva Cuba,” however. Cuban coming-of-age tale has offers from France, U.K., Germany and Scandinavia.
