Deckter on deck for 'Wretched' gig
SYDNEY — Arclight Films has named Jonathan Deckter prexy of international sales, based in Los Angeles.One of Deckter’s first assignments is selling “The Wretched,” a Western/horror project starring Chow Yun-Fat as a bounty hunter whose quarry is zombies. Produced by Patriot Pictures and the U.K.’s Sheerfilms, pic penned by Joanne Reay will be directed by Andrew Goth. Deckter replaces Nicolas Chartier, who quit Arclight to form international sales shingle Voltage Pictures with Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment (Daily Variety, March 10). Deckter was VP of Morgan Creek Intl., where he oversaw the sales and distribution of “Exorcist: The Beginning”; “Two for the Money,” starring Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey; and “The Good Shepherd,” toplining Robert De Niro and Matt Damon. He reports to managing director Gary Hamilton, who launched Arclight with Victor Syrmis in 2002; the sales and production company also has offices in London, Sydney and Toronto. Deckter will work closely with Lina Marrone, senior VP of international sales, and Harrison Kordestani in finance, acquisitions and production. Arclight’s slate includes spy thriller “Lord of War,” starring Nicolas Cage and Ethan Hawke; comedy “Material Girls,” headlining Hilary Duff; “Every Word Is True,” with Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Judd; and “Mini’s First Time,” starring Nikki Reed, Alec Baldwin, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jeff Goldblum.
