Awards dinner scheduled for Jan. 8

The New York Film Critics Circle will announce the winners of its 71st annual awards Dec. 12 at the Algonquin Hotel in Gotham, with New York Newsday film critic Gene Seymour taking over as chair for 2006.

Org selects a winner in a dozen categories, including feature, docu, foreign-language film, actor and actress. Last year’s big winner was “Sideways.” Critics Circle has recognized films such as “Citizen Kane,” “A Clockwork Orange” and “Mulholland Drive” in past years.

Corresponding awards dinner is scheduled for Jan. 8.
