Short Take

Industry vets and fledgling filmmakers alike descend on the Providence, R.I., campus of Brown University Friday-April 17 for the Ivy Film Festival.

The fest, now in its fourth year, aims to educate and encourage students through a series of workshops and competitions in film and screenplay.

Among this year’s features is a documentary panel that includes Henry Alex Rubin and Dana Adam Shapiro, co-directors of “Murderball,” which recently took home the Sundance documentary audience award.

Also scheduled to speak are writer-director John Hamburg, cinematographer Ellen Kuras and exec producer Damon Dash.
