Magnusson to lead Euro film body

Nordisk exec looks to harness new technologies

LONDON — Film trade org the European Film Cos. Alliance has tapped Nordisk Film Prod. managing director Kim Magnusson as its chairman.

Magnusson, who takes over from Svensk Film CEO Rasmus Ramstad, also is chairman of the Producers’ Assn. of Denmark and the Danish Film Academy. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the European Film Academy.

“The European film sector has to face tremendous challenges in today’s market,” Magnusson commented. “European independent film companies must make optimal use of the opportunities brought by new technologies and business models. It is the role of an organization like EFCA to support the European film community in meeting these challenges.”
