Lindsay Lohan and Jared Leto are set to star in “Chapter 27,” a feature about the murder of John Lennon.
Peace Arch is financing the pic, which was penned by Jarrett Schaefer, who will make his feature directing debut.
Leto will play Lennon’s murderer Mark Chapman, while Lohan will play a devoted Lennon fan who befriends Chapman on the weekend in 1980 when he kills the former Beatle.
Producing are Robert Salerno and Naomi Despres through their Artina Films banner, as well as Alexandra Milchan.
“Chapter 27” is the second film Artina is producing with Peace Arch. Production on the first title, “Delirious,” helmed by Tom DiCillo and starring Steve Buscemi, recently got under way in Gotham.
Peace Arch is gearing up a slate of pics aimed at theatrical release after focusing primarily on direct-to-video titles.
Leto most recently appeared in “Lord of War,” as well as last year’s “Alexander.” He recently wrapped “Lonely Hearts.”
Lohan was most recently seen in “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” as well as in last year’s “Mean Girls.” She recently wrapped “A Prairie Home Companion” and will appear in the romantic comedy “Just My Luck,” currently skedded for release by 20th Century Fox on March 3.
