‘Lobster’ claws its way to indie release

Toronto Film Fest entry to be released independently

NEW YORK — Kevin and Darren Jordan, the producers of the recent Toronto Film Festival entry “Brooklyn Lobster,” have joined with Matt Coogan to form Meadowbrook Pictures and release the film independently.

“Lobster” stars Danny Aiello and Jane Curtin in the story of a patriarch facing a bank foreclosure on the small Brooklyn lobster shop he inherited from his father.

Kevin Jordan wrote and directed the pic. He previously co-wrote, directed and produced indie “Smiling Fish and Goat on Fire.”

Meadowbrook has slated a Nov. 4 release for “Lobster.” Richard Abramowitz and Steve Fagan are serving as consultants on the rollout.

Distribs have also enlisted the National Italian-American Foundation to provide promotional support.
