‘Little Fish’ big in Oz kudos pond

Blanchett pic garners 11 noms, while 'Ways' earns eight

Rowan Woods’ “Little Fish” nabbed 11 nominations for the 15th Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards, to be presented Nov. 12 at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Club.

Cate Blanchett-toplined drama appears to be the favorite to take honors for pic, helmer and actress, ahead of “Look Both Ways,” which garnered eight noms, and “The Proposition,” with six.

“The Oyster Farmer” received two nominations, for supporting actress and cinematography. Six other films received one nom apiece: “Illustrated Family Doctor,” “The Magician,” “Peaches,” “Three Dollars,” “The Widower” and “Wolf Creek.”

Nominations for the Australian Film Institute Awards, Australia’s oldest and most established kudofest, will be released Friday, capping a week of awards announcements Down Under.
