Studio gives laffer 'D.A.D.' a home
Lions Gate has decided it can relate to “Notorious D.A.D.,” buying the family comedy pitch from writers Bear Aderhold and Tom Sullivan and setting it up with Carl Beverly, Eric Tannenbaum and Jonathan Prince to produce.Story concerns a superstar rapper who loses everything and is forced to take a job as a nanny for his accountant’s kids while trying to resurrect his music career. Lions Gate exec John Sacchi and president of production Mike Paseornek pulled the trigger on the purchase. Studio had no comment about the deal. The writing duo have also worked on such TV skeins as “The Man Show” and “Crank Yankers.” They also recently closed a deal with Parallel Entertainment for comedy pitch “Delta Farce,” described as “Stripes” meets “The Three Amigos.” Tannenbaum is also developing a half-hour idea with Aderhold and Sullivan in conjunction with Warner Bros. TV.
