Local paybox I-Cable Communications is making the jump from TV to film.
It plans to produce 20 features over the next two years.
Move will be spearheaded by Siuming Tsui, a film producer and director who’s also exec director of I-Cable subsid Hong Kong Cable Television.
Edko Films, which produced “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” will handle distribution for the paybox.
Tsui said he believed this is a good time to enter the film business, even though the industry is struggling. He cited the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, which eases restrictions on business between Hong Kong and China, as a plus point, along with an available talent pool.
