Helmer takes on 'Everything' for Columbia
“About a Boy” helmer Peter Hedges is in negotiations to adapt the Jonathan Tropper novel “Everything Changes.” Wendy Finerman and Tobey Maguire are producing the pic for Columbia.
Book concerns a twentysomething man who’s on the verge of marrying the perfect girl when he undergoes a life crisis brought on by his feelings for his best friend’s widow and the sudden arrival of his estranged, Viagra-popping father.
Amy Baer and Adam Milano are overseeing the pic at Col.
Hedges (“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”) most recently wrote and directed last year’s “Pieces of April” for MGM.
He and Finerman were originally planning to team on “The Devil Wears Prada,” which Finerman is producing for Fox 2000, but writer-director David Frankel has since come aboard the project.
Finerman (“Forrest Gump,” “Drumline”) is producing Warner Bros.’ “P.S., I Love You,” which Richard LaGravenese is directing, as well as “One for the Money,” which Reese Witherspoon’s Type A shingle is also producing for Col.
Maguire Entertainment is also producing the adaptations of Len Williams’ novel “Justice Deferred” for Warners and, along with Raw Entertainment, Andy Behrman’s novel “Electroboy.”
