Prod'n slated to begin this spring in London, Budapest

Ed Harris will portray Ludwig van Beethoven in “Copying Beethoven” for director Agnieszka Holland and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

Diane Kruger (“National Treasure”) will star opposite Harris in the romantic period drama, which centers on the obsession Beethoven developed for his assistant while composing his Ninth Symphony. Stephen J. Rivele and Christopher Wilkinson wrote the script.

Production is slated to begin this spring in London and Budapest. Kimmel and Michael Taylor produce, with Marina Grasic, Andreas Schmid and Andreas Grosch as executive producers.

Financing the pic with Kimmel is German media fund Film & Entertainment VIP. Myriad Pictures reps worldwide sales rights.

International partners are Japan’s Tohokushinsha Film Co., Brazil’s Videofilm, Portugal’s LNK Home Entertainment, Greece’s PCV, Paradise/MGN in Eastern Europe, Myndform in Iceland and Shaw Renters in Singapore.

Kimml is in post on “Neverwas,” starring Aaron Eckhart; Nick Cassavetes’ “Alpha Dog”; and “Trust the Man,” starring Julianne Moore and David Duchovny.
