Thesp feted with Cecil B. DeMille Award

Anthony Hopkins will be feted with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes.

Geena Davis was on hand to make the announcement Wednesday at the Beverly Hilton, but a case of laryngitis prevented her from saying all but the honoree’s name. Instead, Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. prexy Philip Berk read the speech Davis had prepared, lauding Hopkins for his roles ranging from “captain to king, monster to angel, head case to hero.”

Dakota Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, has been tapped as 2006 Miss Golden Globe. Johnson is the first daughter of a former Miss Golden Globe to have been selected for the post — Griffith was named Miss Golden Globe in 1975.

Kudocast airs Jan. 16 on NBC.
