Fortissimo fronts for ‘Night’

Pic directed by Stettner stars Williams, Collette

LONDON — Fortissimo Films has struck a deal with Hart Sharp Entertainment to handle international sales for “The Night Listener,” starring Robin Williams and Toni Collette.

Pic, adapted by Armistead Maupin from his novel, is the story of a nighttime radio show host who gets drawn into the life of one of his callers.

Directed by Patrick Stettner, it recently finished shooting in New York. Fortissimo toppers Michael J. Werner and Wouter Barendrecht will take co-producer credits.

The film was financed through Hart Sharp’s True Film Fund II, with John Hart, Jeffrey Sharp, Robert Kessel and Jill Footlick producing.

Werner and Barendrecht commented in a release, “After starting to work with them two years ago on ‘P.S.,’ we are excited to be expanding and developing our relationship with our friends at Hart Sharp Entertainment.”

Hart said, “While this film represents a slight departure for us as we enter the psychological thriller genre, it still reaffirms our commitment to character-driven material.”
