Film London sets aid for 12 projects

Both established & new events to receive coin

Film London has pledged financial and logistical support to 12 diverse cinema projects taking place across the capital.

The projects receiving assistance range from established events such as the Soho-based 15th Latin American Film Festival and Dalston’s 13th Turkish Film Festival to new niche events, including a special season of Bosnian films to be screened later this month at Hammersmith’s Riverside Studios.

Other ventures receiving a boost from Film London include introductory animation workshops for kids 6-16, a Balkan film season in Camberwell, the North London-based U.K. Jewish Film Festival, Chinese film fest Shanghai on Screen, Tongues on Fire (a fest dedicated to Asian women) and the Disability Film Festival.

Funding also has been allocated for the creation of a London Film Archive Network, which will provide an online catalog of all London’s film archives.

Film London hopes to celebrate the city’s diverse ethnic blend and introduce younger Brit auds to a wider range of film than they can see at their local multiplex.
