Younger fans can now see “Fantastic Four” in South Africa.
The Film and Publications Board has changed the classification from “13,” meaning it’s not suitable for children under 13, to “10,” meaning it’s not suitable for kids under 10.
The change came Monday after distrib/exhib Nu Metro appealed.
Nu Metro distribution general manager Debbie McCrum said there had been a deluge of protest calls from parents complaining about the age restriction on the film, which opened here on Friday.
Nu Metro said the age bar would have cut out a large section of the film’s target audience. Other comic-book based films like “X-Men” had been classified as “PG,” parental guidance.
