New adventure in 'Babysitting'

HOLLYWOOD — Lynda Obst and Walt Disney Pictures are planning a remake of comedy “Adventures in Babysitting” and have hired the writing team of Hilary Galanoy and Elizabeth Hackett to pen the new script.

The duo has two projects already in development: female fish-out-of-water laffer “Shake It” for Zide/Perry and MGM; and “You’re Not the Boss of Me” for Kelsey Grammer’s Gramnmnet and Paramount.

Both scribes are former film executives. Galanoy was a VP at Morgan Creek and Hackett was a director of development for Licht/Mueller Film.

The 1987 “Adventures in Babysitting” was penned by David Simkins and was the feature bow of helmer Chris Columbus. Obst and the late Debra Hill produced for Disney’s Touchstone label.

Elizabeth Shue starred as a suburban high-school senior whose dull night of babysitting is interrupted by a call for help from a friend stuck downtown.

Pic grossed $34 million.
