‘Death’ wins award

Austrian docmaker Michael Glawogger’s “Workingman’s Death” has scooped the inaugural London Film Festival Grierson Award for feature-length doc showing at the fest.

“Death” celebrates the sheer brutality of modern-day manual labor, from the sulfur mines of Indonesia to the slaughterhouses of Nigeria.

The award, given by the Grierson Trust, commemorates Scottish docmaker John Grierson, who died in 1972.
