Darlow Smithson brings in Day

Feature arm backed by Pathe Pictures, FilmFour, Channel 4

LONDON — Docu specialist Darlow Smithson has recruited former FilmFour exec Elinor Day to head its new feature division.

The London-based company, which produced feature doc “Touching the Void,” is launching a movie arm after winning development funding from the U.K. Film Council worth £750,000 ($1.36 million) over three years.

Darlow Smithson’s feature arm also has the backing of the other partners behind “Touching the Void” — Pathe Pictures, FilmFour and Channel 4.

After leaving FilmFour, where she was deputy head of production, Day ran her own production company, the Light Club.
