Studio pacts with Lakeshore on pics

DreamWorks and Lakeshore Entertainment are in negotiations to team on “The Last Kiss” and “Silent Star,” with DreamWorks handling domestic distribution and Lakeshore taking most foreign territories on the two projects.

Deal will mark the first partnership for the two companies, and was brokered by DreamWorks prexy Rick Sands, who assumed his duties at the studio last week.

“The Last Kiss,” which is set up at Lakeshore, is a romantic comic remake of Italian film “L’Ultimo bacio.”

Tony Goldwyn is directing thesps Zach Braff and Rachel McAdams.

Story concerns a couple who live together but could be undone by questions of whether they are meant to be together.

Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing.

“Silent Star,” which is at DreamWorks, is about the mysterious murder of Hollywood director William Desmond Taylor.

“Boys Don’t Cry” helmer Kimberly Peirce is directing.

Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen produce the film. Under the new agreement, Lakeshore’s Rosenberg and Lucchesi also will now produce.
