Kaminow new veep of research
David Kaminow has been promoted to exec VP of worldwide research for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group. He joined the company two years ago as senior VP of research.
Kaminow will continue to oversee the domestic and international marketing research for Columbia Pictures, Revolution Studios and the TriStar and Screen Gems labels. During his tenure with the studio, he has overseen research on films such as “Something’s Gotta Give,” “50 First Dates,” “Spider-Man 2,” “Underworld,” “The Grudge” and “Hitch,” among others.
He’s overseeing market research on pics including “Guess Who,” starring Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac; “Fun With Dick and Jane,” starring Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni; “Bewitched,” with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell; and “Stealth,” directed by Rob Cohen.
Before joining Col, Kaminow was at Miramax Films in New York, where he started as director of research in 1994. In 1997 he became VP research, and a year later was named senior VP of marketing and research, a position he held until the end of 2002. His responsibilities included marketing and research on Miramax’s releases, research for Dimension Films and working on Miramax’s Oscar campaigns.
At Miramax, Kaminow was a marketing/research exec on campaigns for pics including “Chicago,” “Gangs of New York,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Sling Blade” and “Bridget Jones’s Diary.”
