Turner Broadcasting System has elevated Karen Cassell to senior VP of entertainment PR.
Cassell, who currently heads up communication for TNT and TBS, adds Turner Classic Movies and Turner South to her duties. In her expanded position, she will work with exec VP-chief operating officer Steve Koonin and Turner entertainment group prexy Mark Lazarus while continuing to report to senior VP of corporate communications Shirley Powell.
Meanwhile, Turner South publicity VP Monica Neal has added responsibility for TCM. She will report to Cassell.
Cassell, who has been with Turner since 1991, most recently spearheaded TBS’ relaunch as a comedy network and led the campaigns for top-rated original “The Real Gilligan’s Island.” During her two years as senior VP, she also oversaw all of TNT’s original longform events including “The Grid” and upcoming limited series “Into the West,” exec produced by Steven Spielberg.
Neal joined Turner South in 2002, previously serving in PR positions for Court TV, ABC, HBO and “Good Morning America.”
