London-based production and sales company Buena Onda has inked with Brazilian digital film distributor Rain Network to extend its proprietary distrib system to other parts of Latin America, South Africa and Europe.
Buena Onda and Rain will create an — as yet unnamed — joint venture, based out of London. They are in talks with exhibition circuits in Argentina, Bolivia, Puerto Rico and South Africa.
The main new thrust will now be made in Europe.
Accessing films by satellite distribution, Rain operates 70 digital cinema screens in Brazil. It has screened 43 movies since its launched its network in May 2004.
“The ‘Rainvolution’ will help producers and directors to secure economic control and transparency as opposed to a business severely threatened by piracy and dodgy practices, said Buena Onda prexy Don Ranvaud.
Rain founders Jose Eduardo Ferrao and Fabio Lima will present its proprietary management software system in Cannes today.
